Bournemouth Marathon, done!
I really enjoyed it for the first half, the sun was shining and it was such a beautiful location. We ran through the town and along the coast, up and down the pier and alongside the beach. However it got tough after 20 miles and there were more hills than I expected. At mile 23 I was really slowing down and needed a boost, so was thankful of the gels and my Spotify playlist I had carefully put together. The last 3 miles seemed to take forever! However I could see my family at the finish line and it made me run faster to finish.
I did it in 4 hours 10 minutes and 5 seconds, which I’m happy with but know I can do it in under 4 hours, so maybe it won’t be my last one!…
I was also lucky enough to meet Ben Smith at the end and introduce my daughter, Chloe to him and tell her what an amazing thing he has been doing. For those of you that don’t know about Ben he has run 401 marathons in 401 days! to raise money for anti bullying charities, to find out more here is his website. http://www.the401chal
